Darcy Tozier

Hayloft Studio started as a small space to provide art lessons and periodically repair woven seats. As word grew of this hard to find service, the seat weaving began to command more studio time and space. An article was posted in the local newspaper in 2017 about the seat weaving done at Hayloft Studio which catapulted the volume of repairs coming in.
Hayloft Studio now dedicates a majority of studio time to seat weaving of all kinds and maintain a small number of private drawing students. Seat weaving and classes are led by Darcy Tozier, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in sculpture. She was taught to weave strand cane chairs and rush seats by her mom many years ago and she has taught art to home-schooled children, after-school enrichment classes, and mini-courses at local charter schools. Darcy values community involvement and is a member of several local committees including Whately Historical Commission, and Whately Cemetery Commission.
