We Are Peerless Rattan

Peerless Rattan, the oldest mail‑order and retail store for caning and weaving supplies in the United States, began in 1903. From the beginning, the business was built on a commitment to quality materials, excellent customer service, and a dedication to keeping the craft of seat weaving alive. More than a century later, that legacy continues.

In 2007, Ed and Cindy Hammond became the owners of Peerless Rattan. With over 30 years of seat‑weaving experience, they brought fresh energy and deep expertise to the business. Their knowledge spans hand cane, pressed cane, splints, Danish cord, wide binding, and rush—skills they shared generously with customers across the country. Their lightning‑fast turnaround on orders and their willingness to help anyone—from beginners to master weavers—became a hallmark of the Peerless Rattan experience.

In 2021, Ed and Cindy passed the torch to their daughter, Adrian McClelland, who moved the business to Vicksburg, MI. Adrian continues the Peerless tradition of exceptional service, high‑quality materials, fast shipping, and hands‑on expertise, all while still benefiting from the support and wisdom of her parents.

About Adrian

Adrian lives in Vicksburg, MI with her husband, Isaac, and their three boys. She first learned the art of chair caning when her oldest son was born, taught by her parents who passed down their love for the craft.

She holds a BA in Business from Cornerstone University and enjoys blending her caning skills with her business background as the owner of Peerless Rattan. What began as a family hobby has grown into a thriving business where Adrian brings together craftsmanship, education, and high‑quality seat‑weaving supplies for makers nationwide.
