Strand cane is used in chairs that have holes drilled around the perimeter of the seat. The process consists of weaving strands of cane through these holes to form the desired pattern. The size of the cane is determined by the diameter of the holes and space between center to center. A finishing strip of binder cane is needed to cover holes at the end of the weaving process. One hank of 1000 feet is sufficient for two to four chair seats.
