Philen Chair Caning & Seat Weaving is a home-based business serving Central & South Alabama.  Services offered include hand caning, pressed cane, rush, splint, reed, seagrass, binder cane, some minor chair repair, refinishing, and I have refurbished chairs for sale.  Lessons for individuals and small groups.  Call for pricing and directions.

• I started my business as a way to spend time with my dad.  I found myself really enjoying restoring all kinds of chairs.  I have been doing this for many years now. We weave with cane, rush, flat reed and other materials.

I have been Caning for a little over a year. I have done approximately 50-60 chairs. Most have been rush weave chairs but I’ve also done hand laced, pressed cane, wide binding cane and flat reed. This has turned into quite a nice retirement supplement
